It is the first of its kind in Libya… The General Information Authority launches the digital laboratory

• Tripoli – Thursday, December 8, 2022 AD.
Today, Thursday, the President of the General Information Authority, Eng. Abdel Basset Salem Al-Baour, launched the “Digital Lab”, in an initiative that is in line with the importance that the Authority attaches to the digital transformation process.
This laboratory was launched during a meeting held at the authority’s headquarters in Ras Hassan, which was attended by representatives of a number of government institutions, and a delegation from the France Expertise Foundation also participated in the launch of this important national initiative.
In his speech during the meeting, the Chairman of the Authority stated that the inauguration of the digital laboratory, which is the first of its kind in Libya, would enhance the position of the State of Libya and its readiness in dealing with digital transformation and e-government, indicating that the aim of this laboratory is to consolidate coordination and integration. between the various institutions as harmonious and consistent bodies under one umbrella, stressing that the year 2023 will be a year of technology par excellence.
For his part, Mr. Julien Schmidt, Programs Director at Expertise France in Libya, pointed out the importance of the authority’s initiative to launch the digital laboratory as a tool for regulating the governance of digital transformation, and said, “We are committed within the framework of our work to providing technical support for this initiative.”
The meeting included visual presentations of a sample of the programs, projects and initiatives targeted at the Digital Lab as a first stage, including a presentation on the national database platforms presented by Mr. Nader Mleitan, Director of the National Database Department at the Authority, and another presentation on measuring the indicator of the maturity of electronic and mobile government services in the State of Libya GEMS-2023. It was presented by Eng. Mounir El-Adl, Director of Planning and Projects Department at the Authority, General Coordinator of the project, and a presentation entitled LIP-ROAD data exchange platform on the X-ROAD model, presented by Eng. Ihab Al-Ghariani from Al-Madar Al-Jadeed Company. For his part, Eng. Saber Abdel Hamid, Director of the E-Services and Digital Transformation Department at the Authority, presented the experience of the Republic of Estonia in this field.
The meeting witnessed a positive discussion, reflecting the attendees’ interest in the topic of the meeting.
