The General Information Authority participated in the activities of the Second International Scientific Conference on Artificial Intelligence, organized by the Research and Consulting Center at Misrata University under the theme: ‘Artificial Intelligence Horizons: Smart Education – Renewed Society – Promising Economy.’ The Authority was represented at this scientific event by Mr. Mohamed Al-Qambari from the Planning and Projects Department at the General Information Authority, who presented a specialized scientific paper on artificial intelligence governance. The paper addressed the foundations and principles that ensure responsible and ethical use of AI technologies across various sectors. During his intervention, Mr. Al-Qambari emphasized that the General Information Authority is currently preparing the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy, in partnership with government institutions and stakeholders from both the public and private sectors, as part of a comprehensive national vision aimed at building a secure and reliable digital environment that supports sustainable development in Libya.
He also clarified that AI governance represents a key aspect to ensure transparency and accountability, address issues related to privacy and bias, and enhance public trust in intelligent systems. The conference witnessed wide attendance from academics, researchers, experts, and representatives of government institutions and the private sector, where pioneering experiences and future visions regarding the role of AI in advancing education, empowering society, and stimulating the national economy were discussed.The participation of the General Information Authority in this conference comes within its efforts to establish the principles of digital governance and develop comprehensive national AI policies, in line with global technological transformations and to strengthen Libya’s position in the field of digital transformation.
