Within the framework of enhancing institutional integration and unifying national efforts, the General Authority for Information participated in a joint session of the culture and communication sectors, organized by the Libyan National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science, yesterday, Wednesday, in Tripoli, with the participation of a number of national entities, including the Media Content Monitoring Authority, the Antiquities Department, the Ghadames City Development and Improvement Authority, and the Old City Management Authority of Tripoli.
During the session, the Authority reviewed the national information system in Libya and explained the extent of its alignment with UNESCO’s directions, particularly within the Information for All Programme (IFAP), emphasizing Libya’s pursuit of joining this international program to enhance its presence in digital and knowledge governance initiatives.
Engineer Abdelbaset Al-Baour presented a strategic presentation on the prospects of developing the communications sector, highlighting the role of digital infrastructure in supporting culture, along with reviewing national indicators related to digital transformation and communication, and their link to achieving sustainable development and heritage protection.
The session witnessed the discussion of a number of digital projects of a consultative nature in cooperation with UNESCO, where coordination took place to assess the readiness of several national projects in the fields of data, digital content, and information infrastructure, in preparation for launching joint initiatives that enhance digital transformation in Libya.
The session concluded by emphasizing the importance of opening broader horizons for cooperation with UNESCO, in a way that supports the protection of national heritage, the development of the digital system, and the enhancement of the knowledge economy in Libya.
