Today, Tuesday, the Permanent Committee for Monitoring and Implementing the African Union Agenda 2063 launched the Libyan National Report on Africa Agenda 2063, the Second Decadal Implementation Plan 2024-2033, covering the period 2023-2025, at the headquarters of the General Information Authority in the capital, Tripoli. The event was attended by Engineer Abdul Basit Salem Al-Bao, Chairman of the General Information Authority, a group of officials and experts, Dr. Mohamed Al-Fadil Gibran, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Implementing and Monitoring the African Union Agenda, committee members and the team of experts of the Permanent Committee, Mr. Abdul Nasser Younis, Director of the African Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Sofyan Belkheir, Director of the Department of International Organizations, and a wide attendance of officials, experts, and specialists from various state sectors.
In his opening speech during the ceremony, the Chairman of the General Information Authority, Engineer Abdul Basit Salem Al-Baour, affirmed that the launch of this report represents a historic milestone in the path of Libyan development work, noting that it reflects the Libyan state’s commitment to fulfilling its continental pledges toward the Africa we aspire to. He added that the report objectively and accurately reviews what has been accomplished during the first decade (2013-2023), emphasizing that the Authority has dedicated all its technical and human resources to ensure the report’s production in accordance with approved international standards, and he praised the support and efforts of the African Union for the success of the report.
The celebration featured detailed artistic and technical presentations delivered by the authority’s experts, during which they reviewed the key indicators included in the report, covering areas such as sustainable development, digital transformation, and economic growth, while highlighting the opportunities and challenges encountered in the implementation of the plan.
