As part of its strategic approach to enhancing the security and protection of national data and consolidating the concepts of digital trust, the General Information Authority organized a specialized workshop on blockchain technologies at its headquarters. The workshop was presented in collaboration with Digital Innovation Company, a national company working in the field of artificial intelligence and modern digital technologies, under the title: ‘Blockchain Technology and Its Role in Enhancing Data Protection and Building Trust in Digital Services.’ The workshop aimed to raise the technical awareness of the technical staff and highlight the pivotal role that blockchain technology plays in protecting government data, through its advanced features, including decentralization, immutability, process tracking, and ensuring the integrity of digital records, thereby contributing to enhancing the reliability of government electronic systems and reducing the risks of breaches or fraud.
The workshop’s topics also addressed mechanisms for employing blockchain technologies to secure sensitive government databases, enhance transparency in data exchange between public entities, and support secure integration between digital systems, alongside reviewing practical models for using this technology in the areas of digital identity, record protection, and government procedure chains.
The Authority emphasized that organizing this workshop comes as part of its efforts to strengthen Libya’s digital sovereignty and build a reliable and secure digital infrastructure that contributes to protecting the data of citizens and institutions, and improving the quality of government services according to the best global technical practices and standards.
This initiative falls within the Authority’s plan to keep up with rapid technological transformations and adopt modern technologies as a key driver for achieving a secure and sustainable digital transformation based on innovation, data governance, and building digital trust.
