Within the framework of national efforts aimed at enhancing data quality and supporting evidence-based policies, and as part of a series of community consultations on the preliminary findings of the Seventh National Human Development Report, #University__of_Fezan hosted on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, the third session of these consultations, in partnership with the #General_Information_Authority and the United Nations Development Programme, and in collaboration with Libyan academic institutions.
The session was attended by the President of the University of Fezan, Professor Dr. Mahdi Milad Al-Jadi, the Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, Professor Dr. Ibrahim Al-Mahdi Ahmed, and the Assistant Director of Security for Security Affairs at the Murzuq Security Directorate, Brigadier Idrees Al-Katib, alongside university leaders, representatives of the General Information Authority, the United Nations Development Programme, a select group of academics, experts, and researchers, representatives of civil society institutions, and a number of officers from the Murzuq Security Directorate, in a scene that reflects the increasing national interest in human development issues.

This session came as a continuation of the national path that started from the University of Tripoli, then the University of Brak Al-Shati, and continued its academic journey at the University of Fezzan, affirming the pivotal role of Libyan universities in supporting scientific dialogue on human development issues and enhancing the integration between knowledge and decision-making.
The President of the University of Fezzan delivered a speech in which he emphasized the importance of these consultations in promoting academic dialogue on development issues, pointing out the university’s commitment to its role in supporting scientific research, serving the community, and contributing to the formulation of more effective development policies.

On its part, the General Information Authority confirmed that these consultations come within the framework of developing the #National_Data_System and improving the quality of #Statistical_Indicators, ensuring support for development decision-making based on evidence and accurate knowledge. Meanwhile, the United Nations Development Programme clarified that Human Development Reports represent a strategic tool for understanding the development reality and outlining the features of the future, emphasizing the importance of strengthening partnership with national institutions to achieve sustainable development goals. The session’s work included presenting the preliminary results of the seventh national human development report, its preparation methodology, in addition to highlighting the role of Fezzan University in supporting scientific research, serving the community, and promoting development in the southern region, alongside another presentation on the impact of #Digitalization on development in the field of health in Libya. The session concluded with a series of discussions and interactive contributions from the participants, supporting sustainable human development paths in Libya.
