Within the framework of enhancing the presence of the State of Libya in international initiatives concerned with information and digital transformation, the General Information Authority participated in the first orientation meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP) of UNESCO, which was held via video conferencing technology under the chairmanship of Dr. Saleh Rajab Al-Aghab, Chairman of the Council.

The Chairman of the Council opened the proceedings of the meeting with a speech in which he welcomed the new members, emphasizing the importance of this stage in updating the strategic orientations of the programme for the period (2023–2029) and reviewing the operational guidelines, in a way that enhances the role of the programme in supporting access to information and knowledge and expanding its developmental impact on the international level, and in a way that serves the goals of the knowledge society and digital transformation.

The meeting also addressed the preparations for commemorating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of the programme, which was launched in the year 2001, and what it represents as an international platform for promoting access to information, building capacities, and consolidating the principles of digital governance and digital inclusion.

During the meeting, representatives of the General Information Authority reviewed the procedures and steps taken by Libya regarding the establishment of the Libyan National Committee for the Information for All Programme, contributing to enhancing national coordination with relevant international initiatives, and supporting national policies related to data governance and digital transformation.

In this context, Dr. Saleh Rajab Al-Aghab, Chairman of the Intergovernmental Council for the “Information for All” Programme, praised the participation of the General Information Authority, commending the role it plays in developing information systems and digital governance, and confirming that the tasks and initiatives implemented by the Authority are consistent and aligned with the objectives of the programme and its orientations aimed at enhancing access to information, building institutional capacities, and consolidating the knowledge society and sustainable development.

The General Information Authority confirmed that this participation comes as an extension of its efforts to enhance the Libyan presence in specialized international platforms, and to contribute to the development of national policies related to information, data, and digital transformation, in line with national orientations to build a “Digital Libya”, support institutional integration, and benefit from international initiatives in developing the information sector.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Chairman of the Council appreciated the participation of the bureau members, calling for continued coordination and preparation for the thirty-fifth bureau meeting scheduled to be held on June 17, 2026.
