On Sunday morning, June 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM, the General Authority for Information hosted a joint meeting for representatives of various ministries and affiliated entities. This meeting was held within the framework of the Permanent Committee for the Implementation and Follow-up of the African Union Agenda 2063, established under the Prime Minister’s Decree No. (85) of 2025.

The meeting was opened by Dr. Mohamed Al-Fadel, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for the Implementation and Follow-up of the African Union Agenda 2063 at the Prime Minister’s Office. He welcomed the representatives from the ministerial sectors and affiliated bodies, emphasizing the importance of enhancing national coordination and integrating efforts among all relevant entities. This integration is crucial to ensure the quality of national data and indicators, as well as to support the preparation of periodic reports in accordance with the methodologies approved by the African Union.

During the meeting, the results of compiling and auditing national indicators were reviewed, and feedback from participating entities regarding the required data was discussed. This process aims to enhance the accuracy and reliability of the indicators and improve the quality of related national outputs.

Participants also discussed the ongoing preparations for the upcoming training session bringing together ministerial sectors and affiliated entities with an expert from the African Union and the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD). Scheduled for July 2026, this session aims to build national capacities in developing indicators and monitoring the implementation of the continental agenda.

Furthermore, the meeting addressed preparations for drafting the Second Ten-Year Implementation Plan of the AU Agenda 2063 and discussed the requirements for preparing the follow-up report for the 2026–2027 period. This was coupled with a review of feedback received regarding the completed national report, alongside checking verification and auditing notes on data and indicators provided by the African Union Commission (AUC) and AUDA-NEPAD.

In a related context, the meeting reviewed the strategic notes and outcomes concluded by members of the national delegation who recently participated in extensive joint meetings held in Nairobi, Kenya. These meetings were supervised by the AUC and AUDA-NEPAD, where key outputs and recommendations regarding the follow-up on the implementation of the continental agenda and the development of monitoring and evaluation mechanisms were showcased.

Additionally, a comparative analytical review prepared by the State of Libya between the national report and the AU continental report for the period (2023–2025) was presented. The analysis showed significant progress in several development indicators compared to the continental report, reflecting the progress achieved in the national monitoring and data management system.
