 The Rashid Kabar Auditorium at the University of Tripoli witnessed today, Thursday, the launch of the #first session of community consultations on the preliminary findings of the chapters of the #seventh National Human Development Report, in a prominent national event organized by the General Information Authority in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, and in collaboration with the University of Tripoli. This session took place amid a wide, elite, and interactive attendance that included #the President of the University of Tripoli, Professor Dr. Khaled Aoun, the Director of the Decision Support Office at the Council of Ministers, Mr. Tarek Al-Gharably, and the Director of the Center for Research, Consulting, and Training at the University, Dr. Abdel Salam Al-Nuwesri. The meeting also featured the presence of representatives from the United Nations Development Programme, the Editor-in-Chief and members of the report’s editorial board, the head of the research team, a group of researchers involved in preparing the chapters, alongside a host of academics, experts, representatives of civil society organizations, students, and concerned individuals.

The session was opened with a speech by the President of the University of Tripoli, who welcomed the attendees and confirmed the full readiness of the university and its academic staff to support this national report. This was followed by a speech from the #General_Information_Authority, which emphasized that data quality and decision-making start at the heart of scientific institutions. In the same context, the representative of the United Nations Development Programme, in his speech, stressed the strategic importance of human development reports as a global tool to support the achievement of #Sustainable_Development_Goals.
On the technical level, the #session reviewed the methodology for preparing the report and its preliminary results, with special focus on the axis of digital education as a cornerstone of the desired transformation. The United Nations Development Programme presented an in-depth technical presentation on the concept of human development, highlighting the close link between the report’s indicators and the achievement of sustainable development goals globally.

In a forward-looking touch, the students of the #College of Information Technology at the university presented an outstanding presentation on employing Meta technology in development paths, and how to utilize virtual worlds in improving education and training and enhancing the efficiency of vital sectors.
The session concluded with rich discussions and valuable contributions from experts and civil society representatives, followed by the distribution of an interactive electronic questionnaire via a QR Code to survey opinions on the education axis, ensuring the formulation of a future for human development in Libya based on science, data, and modern digital technologies.
