Under the auspices of the Minister of State for the Affairs of the Prime Minister and the Cabinet of Ministers… The General Information Authority organizes a workshop to measure the readiness of the institutions of the State of Libya, to work on the Government Tenders and Procurement Platform, and confirms its technical readiness to launch it

Tripoli – Tuesday, November 22, 2022

Mr. Adel Jumaa, Minister of State to the Prime Minister and Cabinet, announced the launching date of work on the platform of the government Tender and Procurement, starting from January 2023.

Earlier this month, Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity had issued a message to start the beta phase of the Government Tenders and Procurement System for government-affiliated agencies, with the start-up phase of its operation beginning in 2023.

Mr. Adel Jumaa, during his participation at the workshop to measure how ready the institutions of the State of Libya are, in working on the Government Tenders and Procurement platform, as organized by the General Information Authority, on Tuesday, in Dr. Mohammed Salem Bani’s office at Ras Hasan branch of the GIA, stressed the need for commitment from all state institutions to publish their bids, purchases and technical specifications for these bids through this platform, in a way that enables suppliers to view them and achieve the required level of transparency and equal opportunities for all.

On his part, the head of the General Information Authority, Eng. Abdulbaset Salem Al Baour, confirmed in a speech, the technical readiness of the GIA to launch the platform any date specified by the government, stressing that the platform is capable of providing services in accordance with best practices in this regard.

The GIA presented during this workshop a visual presentation of the governmental Tender and Procurement platform, through which a practical demonstration of how to use the platform was shown, by simulating different work environments.

The workshop concluded with an agreement to form a proposed working group from various state institutions, to prepare a procurement list, and another team to put down the qualities and technical conditions of procurement. The authority shall refer the proposals of this workshop to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The workshop was attended – along with the Minister of State to the Prime Minister and the Cabinet, Mr. Adel Jumaa, and Head of the GIA, Eng. Abdulbaset Salem Al Baour – by Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Trade for Commercial Affairs, Mr. Suhail Abu Shaiha; Undersecretary of the Ministry of Planning for Sustainable Development Affairs, Dr. Nuri Shater, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Marine Resources, Mr. Abdulrahman Abu Shaala, and Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs for branch affairs, Mr. Faraj Mujahid; in addition to a number of representatives of state institutions.
