The General Information Authority, in cooperation and strategic partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), organized today, Monday, at the Authority’s headquarters, a high-level ceremony dedicated to announcing the launch and adoption of the Executive Summary of the Seventh National Human Development Report. This took place amidst a prominent presence of a number of government officials and a elite group of experts and academics. The ceremony brought together a constellation of leadership figures, foremost among them the Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Bin Ghalbon, the Chairman of the General Information Authority, Engineer Abdulbasit Al-Baour, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, Dr. Sophie Kemkhadze, the Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Dr. Mustafa Al-Mane, and the Chairman of the Bureau of Statistics and Census, Mr. Nabil Al-Qanqa. The event also witnessed an active attendance by the chairman and members of the report’s editorial board, the head of the research team, members of the advisory committee, along with a gathering of researchers, academics, and those interested in the sustainable development file.
The ceremony included the delivery of speeches that collectively emphasized the strategic importance of this report. The Chairman of the General Information Authority delivered the official opening speech, in which he welcomed the attendees, emphasizing the pivotal role and direct responsibility that the Authority undertakes in providing accurate data and reliable indicators upon which the report was built, praising the collective efforts and joint cooperation that resulted in this important national work.
This was followed by a speech by the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme, as the strategic partner in this event, in which she praised the strength of the fruitful partnership with national institutions, and expressed the Programme’s pride in supporting the preparation of this report as an official document that reflects the reality and prospects of human development in accordance with agreed-upon international standards.
For his part, the Minister of State for Prime Minister and Cabinet Affairs delivered a speech, during which he conveyed the greetings of the Prime Minister’s office and its congratulations on this achievement, confirming the full support of the political administration for the outputs of this report, and the commitment to translating its recommendations into tangible developmental action plans that serve the citizen. The Advisor to the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity also delivered a speech, focusing on the planning dimension of the report, noting that it constitutes a scientific and practical reference that decision-makers can utilize to guide resources toward the sectors most in need of development. This was followed by a speech by the Chairman of the Bureau of Statistics and Census, in which he praised institutional cooperation, reviewing the statistical and field efforts that contributed to providing the research team with the necessary databases, and emphasizing the importance of the statistical figure in building any successful development vision.
The conclusion of the ceremony witnessed the official announcement by the Authority and the Programme of the adoption and launch of the Executive Summary of the Seventh National Report, amidst great praise for the efforts of the chairman and members of the editorial board, and the research team that undertook the drafting and analysis of the report’s pillars with high efficiency and professionalism, so that this report represents a primary diagnostic and guiding tool, aimed at driving the wheel of comprehensive human development, and strengthening national capacities in facing economic and social challenges through adopting evidence- and knowledge-based policies.
