In a technological event that embodies the Libyan state’s ambition toward digital leadership, the General Authority for Information commemorated on Monday the activities of the National Information Technology Day in its sixth year. The ceremony, held at the Authority’s headquarters, was chaired by Engineer Abdul Basit Salem Al-Baour, Chairman of the Authority, in the presence of directors of departments and offices, heads of sections, and the Authority’s employees.
The celebration opened with a speech by the Chairman of the Authority, Engineer Abdul Basit Salem Al-Baour, in which he set the features of the next phase, emphasizing that emerging technologies, led by Artificial Intelligence, are no longer merely complementary options, but have rather become the sovereign pillar for building modern state institutions. He pointed out that the Authority is racing against time through localizing technology to transform it from theoretical concepts into a tangible reality that enhances the efficiency of government performance.
In a distinguished technical presentation, Engineer Mounir Mohamed Al-Adl, Director of the Planning and Projects Department, reviewed the outlines of the Authority’s strategic plan (2026–2030). The presentation covered the Authority’s updated vision and mission, with a focus on the sovereign digital projects that the Authority intends to implement over the next four years, aiming to achieve a qualitative leap in the information infrastructure at the national level.
The celebration also witnessed a series of interventions and distinguished presentations delivered by the directors of departments and offices at the Authority. Each department reviewed, through reports and digital indicators, the most prominent technological activities and projects it has recently implemented, highlighting the vital role of this National Day as an annual platform for performance evaluation, knowledge sharing, and reviewing achievements accomplished in the digital transformation space.
Believing that the human element is the actual driver of every transformation, the ceremony featured a special honoring event for national cadres. Certificates were distributed for the completion of advanced training courses in internal auditing, which were organized by the Authority as part of the implementation of the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system project, in a step that reinforces the Authority’s policy aimed at raising the readiness of its employees to lead complex technological projects.
The celebration concluded with the issuance of an official statement, in which the General Authority for Information renewed its pledge before the nation and institutions to remain the unifying national umbrella and the primary and fundamental supporter of all digital transformation and technological innovation projects, in alignment with the efforts exerted to achieve full digital sovereignty for Libya.
